Cruise Vacation {Day 0}

We just got back from our first ever cruise. We were on a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Legend. As with our other trips, I plan to blog each day separately. This is day 0. It is the day we boarded the ship. The cruise called "Day 1" as the first full day, so I thought it would be easier to keep up with their numbering.

James arrived home from Boy Scout camp around 1pm on Saturday. We let him chill for a couple of hours (translate that to "play X-Box"), then around 3pm we drove to Tampa. We arrived in Tampa around 11pm. We had gotten a "Park & Cruise" package so we could leave our car while we were gone.

We embarked and ate lunch, then we were able to get into our cabin. We were in cabin 5190 on the main deck.

The room reminded me of a standard dorm room in size. Here is a picture of our bed.

Here are the kids staking out their beds for the week.

We chose a balcony room with an obstructed view. It really didn't bother us that our view was obstructed. We could look out which was what we wanted. We didn't utilize the balcony as much as we thought we might. We may choose just to have a window next time.

We went on the cruise with the Washburn family. Here is Tyler checking out our room. Behind Tyler, we had 3 separate closets. We had a lot of stuff. I packed enough clothes for everyone to wear 2 outfits a day. With the four of us, we could have used a little bit more storage room, but we made it work.

The small, but adequate bathroom. Lots of shelves for our stuff.

We ordered some beverages ahead of time to be waiting for us when we arrived.

After we were settled into our room, we did some exploring. The kids played a short game of chess. Hannah realized that she really didn't know how to play, so we stopped the game before it got too ugly.

Still in Tampa, Chris & Hannah pose by the mini golf.

The boat was finally leaving.

Look at Hannah's nose. A couple of days before we left, Hannah scraped her nose on the bottom of the pool. After 1 day of swimming in the salt water pools on the ship, it was almost completely healed.  Hannah swears by the miracle healing powers of the Legend's pool!

Posing for a picture on deck after dinner.

And our towel pet that was waiting for us back in the room.
