Star Wars Exhibit at the Indiana State Museum

In July, the kids & I went up to Indiana for a week to help my father go through some of Mom's stuff. The traveling Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit was at the Indiana State Museum while we were in town. We missed it when it came to Atlanta a few years ago, so I took James & Hannah to see it. Chris' older brother met us there with his family and so did our friends from Georgia who were also in Indy visiting family.

There were lots of real movie props on display.

There were also lots of hands-on type activities. Here is Hannah on a hovercraft.

It was fun seeing the costumes!

Now that James has his learners permit, he's in the market for some transportation!

The pendulum is something I always associate with the State Museum.

James is standing next to an old WFBM tv camera. My grandfather used to be one of the camera men for WFBM "back in the day". He actually used that camera to film the first broadcast of the Indianapolis 500.

A great day at the museum!

Back to Blogging !?!?

I can't believe that my last post was in late June!! I *think* I'm back. Things have been super busy/crazy and I just haven't made blogging a priority. But I miss it, so I am going to try to keep up with it.

In early July, the kids & I went up to Indiana to visit my father. It was our first visit back there since my mother passed away in May. One of the purposes of this trip was to help clear out Mom's closets and crafts. We accomplished a lot. The van was packed with Mom's craft supplies on the way home.

Shortly after we returned home, Chris & I continued our conversations on finding a new house. After Chris' father died in March, we started thinking that we would like to find a house that could have a designated guest room. We don't anticipate anyone moving in with us anytime soon, but we wanted to have the space in case it came to that. So we resumed that conversation. There was a house that piqued our interest, so I called a realtor and saw the house. Two weeks later, our house was listed for sale. Those two weeks were CRAZY! We packed, cleaned, & donated a lot of stuff. When the photographer came to take pictures, it looked like no one lived there. The house was listed on a Friday. We had 7 showings over the weekend. Then on Monday, we received 3 offers on the house. And 2 of them were for the asking price!

Then it was time to find a new house! I took the family to see the house that had originally piqued my interest, but that house was not "move in" ready. Hannah & I looked at a few more houses, but there really wasn't much out there. It really is a seller's market right now. One of the requirements that we had was to stay in the same school district. The kids went back to school and I went and saw a few more houses. I found one that met our needs, so we went back there later that evening. We made an offer the next day and are currently in contract for a new house.

Closings on both homes aren't scheduled until late September, but we still have a lot to do. I was hoping we would be in a new house by Christmas!

So that's what has played a big part in my absence.
