This past weekend was our Girl Scout Service Unit Spring Camporee at Camp Pine Acres in Acworth, Georgia. For the past two years, our troop has made this event a "mother/daughter" camping trip. By doing this, my co-leader and I get to spend more time being moms instead of the leaders. At most of the events we attend, we are limited to the number of adults we can bring, so camporee is the perfect time to include all the grownups we can.
We slept in canvas platform tents. We used the same kind of tents when I was a Girl Scout.
Here's Hannah inside her tent. As you can see, we did not have to sleep on the floor.
We went canoeing on Lake Allatoona.
When we finished canoeing, several of the girls (and moms) decided to play in the lake. I chose to stay dry.
One very wet and happy girl!
This was the first year Hannah was able to do archery. She did quite well with her bow and arrows.
We ate our meals in the dining hall.
We roasted marshmallows & ate s'mores.
We did a service project for the camp on Sunday morning. Our girls weeded and planted flowers in front of the camp office.
We had a wonderful weekend. The weather was beautiful and the activities were fun.
