Today Hannah was awarded the Silver Pen Award by the Marietta/Lost Mountain Golden K -Kiwanis Club. Hannah's story was selected as the winner for her school out of 130 other 4th graders. We were invited to attend their meeting this morning for the presentation.
Hannah read her story to the members. She was a little nervous, but she did a fantastic job. And I'm not just saying that because I'm her mom. One of Kiwanis gentlemen brought her a stool to stand on so she could be seen over the podium. She's not really that tall!
The president of the club presented Hannah with a plaque. She was also given 20 gold coins (dollar coins). A couple of months ago, when Hannah first learned that she was the winner, she received her silver pen.
Here Hannah is posing with her plaque. The larger one goes to her school. Her gold coins are in her hand, too.
Hannah's teacher (pictured below with Hannah) and principal attended as well.
We're so proud of her! She LOVES to write! Her elementary teachers have done a wonderful job of instilling that love in her. She has been the grade level winner for the school writing fair for the past two years and she placed 2nd in her division at the school Reflections program in the literature category in addition to this award. We may have a future novelist in the family.
