Cruise {Day 5 - Grand Cayman}

Our port on Day 5 was Grand Cayman. For our excursions, we chose the "Dolphin Swim, Stingray
Encounter, and Turtle Farm".

We started at the Cayman Turtle Farm.

Large green sea turtles

James & Hannah with the sea turtles.

This shows the beach were the sea turtles lay their eggs.

This pool houses some of the younger sea turtles. These are Kemp's Ridley turtles and the most endangered of all sea turtles.

Guests were allowed to enter two of the pools that housed the younger turtles.

Hannah thought this was pretty cool. You can see the life guard that was on duty in the background.

James talking to a young sea turtle.

I even got in and picked up one.

Chris didn't get in, but he did carefully pick up one of the turtles.

Then we walked across the street to go to Dolphin Discovery.

Here is a picture of the pool where we played with the dolphin.

First we had our ray encounter. All that involved was walking in a designated pool while a few rays swam around our feet, then we got to pet one.

Then it was time for the dolphin portion of our activity.

Here I am holding on to Cappy, the dolphin for a little swim.

We did various poses with Cappy. Here Hannah is getting a "kiss".

Playing ball

Shaking hands with Cappy.

Hannah is riding a boogie board, but she is being pushed by Cappy. You can see his fin behind her. Her legs are straight and he is pushing on the back of one of her feet.

Hannah's turn to swim with Cappy.

A dolphin kiss

We went back to the port and got some gelati.

Then we did a little shopping.

Hannah decided to get a tiny single braid.

She chose beads in her school colors.

Back on the ship, Hannah needed a snack. It was still several hours until our late dining.

We came back to our room to see that we had won the door decorating contest! There was a trophy in our mailbox. Hannah was so proud of our door! Several people stopped through out the week to tell us how much they enjoyed reading our door every day.

Then some pre-dinner drinks. We would send the kids to one room, and have drinks in the other room. Then we would switch rooms. We called this "progressive drinks". Both families had ordered a couple of bottles at the start of the cruise and we didn't want to have to take them off the ship with us!

More napkin folding at dinner.

Our new towel pet.

    1. Thanks! We weren't allowed to have cameras with us during the encounter, so they provided a group photographer and for a fee, we got all the pics on a disc.
